The Wynnum Manly Rugby League Football Club Ladies Committee group was formed from the wives and daughters of the Management Committee men.  Their contribution to the club was indeed of great steed and an invaluable service.

They would meet every Sunday night at Dorrie Cloherty’s house and make up Doubles for future games, this was done for 3 to 4 hours each night, all done by hand, no machines.

When games were played at Kitchener Park they would serve drinks at the soft drink van and the pie and hot dog tent.  When you consider they started work around 11am and finished around 4.30pm then proceeded over to Dorrie Cloherty’s to make Doubles that night, it was truly a remarkable effort by these ladies.

On the presentation of trophy nights there were no hairdressers or off the cuff colons for these ladies, it was work in the kitchen and the food they supplied came from their own larders.  There were no chefs to take a bow, only a handful of ladies who loved what they did.
