1982 Winfield State League Stick Pins launched by the QRL

In the season of 1982, the Brisbane Rugby League competition took on a totally new look.

During a normal Brisbane Rugby League season we would have three rounds played, which involved 21 home and away fixtures, unless you were the match of the day which was held at Lang Park.

However, in 1982 the Queensland Rugby League introduced a new concept that involved a State League.  This competition was run throughout what would normally be the first round of the BRL season.

Six teams from the country regions took part being Ipswich, Central Queensland, Toowoomba, Wide Bay, Gold Coast and North Queensland along with the eight current Brisbane Rugby League teams.

With the start of the Winfield State League competition, the QRL Marketing Team introduced Stick/Lapel Pins for all 14 teams involved in this inaugaral year of competition.  These Stick Pins were available at special designated sites at all grounds including Lang Park.

These Stick Pins would appear on the coats, shirts, ties and hats of supporters during an afternoon at the football, or just kept as a souvenir for rugby league tragics.

Again these are much sort after item on internet selling platforms and fetch anywhere from $50 to $100 per Stick Pin.
